Artist Restroom : Monitor access to Artist Restroom backstage on Watson Stage.
Food Vendor Trailer : Location: Behind main Food Tent on pond road. Description: Must be able to lift heavy boxes, climb steps, and work in sun. Maintain security for food in trailers – no one to enter unless they represent the MerleFest food supplier or a designated MerleFest food vendor. This is not a sit‐down position.
Front Gate Parking Attendant : Located on Collegiate Drive, on right before main entrance to festival.Assist registered customers with appropriate parking tag in finding a parking space and secure parking area.
Greeter - Front Gate : Location: Main entrance to the festival. Description: Welcome guests as they enter the festival. Assist, when needed, guests as they exit the shuttles. Direct guests to the correct lines upon arrival. This position is working in the direct sun.
Hospitality : Location: Watson Stage. Description: Set up, serve, and maintain meals, snacks, and beverages. Volunteers must wear hat, hairnet, or hair restraint if handling food. Must dress appropriate to work in the area. No sleeveless shirts, open‐toed shoes or sandals allowed. This is a high‐pace area to work. Must be able to stand for periods of time.
Little Pickers : Location: Little Pickers Area Description: Assist with securing area around activities and games, assist with numerous sign-ups, and other assignments as necessary. This job may be in full sun.
Museum - Attendant : Location beside Visitors Center. Monitor museum during open hours.
Nancy's Gate : Volunteers will monitor Nancy's Gate to only allow those guests with backstage passes access.
Perimeter Security : Location: Varies Description: Provide various wristband checks and security in areas presenting minor security risks, assist with traffic control, etc. This job may be in full sun. Requires standing for periods of time.
Photo Platform : Location: Front of Watson Stage. Description: Assist stage manager as needed with photographers and guests. This job may be in full sun and requires standing for periods of time. <u>No photography or videos will be allowed by volunteers when working a shift.</u>
Raffle : Location: Across from Children's Playground - In Raffle Tent Description: Sell MerleFest raffle tickets, work with the silent auction to ensure that all monies are accurate and that tickets, funds, and items are secure at all times.
Relief (Flattop's Friends) : Location: Beside Flattop's Getaway. Description: This is a ‘work where needed’ position. If additional volunteers are needed on festival grounds you will be sent to that area. If you have not been called out to help on the festival grounds you will be released after 3 hours. You will be required to remain at Flattop’s getaway if not called to work on festival grounds. Bring a book or other means of passing the time. Locations may require working in full sun.
RV Campground : Location: On-Campus RV Campground Description: Assist RV campground manager with parking campers and vehicles as needed, ensure vehicles are parked correctly and that vehicles that are temporarily brought in for transfer of items are moved within a reasonable period of time. Perform other duties as requested by campground manager. This job will be in full sun and requires being on your feet for several hours.
School Day Check In : Location: Front Entrance. Description: This position is only available for FRIDAY. Volunteer will be checking in school children from the list provided by the schools.
Surveys : Mingle with crowds and request a one-on-one survey. This job may be in full sun and requires walking and standing for periods of time.
Usher - Americana Stage : Assist stage manager as needed with straightening chairs, trash cleanup, keeping aisle’s clear and assisting guests. Requires standing for periods of time. Usher - Creekside Stage : Assist stage manager as needed with straightening chairs, trash cleanup, keeping aisle’s clear and assisting guests. Requires standing for periods of time. Usher - Dance/Traditional Stage : Assist stage managers as needed with trash cleanup, keeping aisle’s clear and assisting guests. Assist with keeping aisle’s clear. Requires standing for periods of time. Keep Dance and Traditional Stage floors clear of backpacks, strollers, sitting audience members, etc. Some shifts will require moving between Dance and Traditional tents to cover sets.
Usher - Hillside Stage : Assist stage manager as needed with straightening chairs, trash cleanup, keeping aisle’s clear and assisting guests. Assist with keeping aisle’s clear. Requires standing for periods of time. May require standing on uneven surfaces. These jobs may be in full sun. All decisions regarding crowd control will come directly from the area manager. Usher - Mayes Pit : Location: Mayes Pit-Cohn Auditorium in Thompson Hall Description: Assist stage manager as needed to ensure that fire codes are followed, ensure that people do not block aisles or doorways, pick up trash. Requires standing for periods of time. All decisions regarding crowd control will come directly from the area manager. Please be familiar with your job description before you report to your area. Usher - Plaza Stage : Location between Alumni Hall and Thompson Hall. Assist stage manager as needed with straightening chairs, trash cleanup, assisting guests when needed and keeping aisle’s clear. Usher - Walker Center : Location: John A. Walker Center located on upper campus. Ensure that fire codes are followed by monitoring doorways. Access is limited once the room is filled. Ask people not to block aisles or doorways. Do not allow food or beverages into the auditorium. Provide general information to attendees. Monitor restrooms and call custodians as needed. Requires standing for periods of time. All decisions regarding crowd control will come directly from the area manager. Please be familiar with your job description before you report to your area. Usher - Watson Stage : Location: Watson/Cabin Audience Area Description: Answer questions and assist as necessary before the evening meal break. After the evening break ask those without reserved seating wristbands to move to general seating area to allow seating of those with reserved seating wristbands. Control access of entry after the evening break to only guests with reserved seating for the evening’s performance. Requires standing for periods of time. This job may be in full sun.
